In this article, we have featured the top influencers from the crypto industry. Along with some information on these personalities, we have also included the updated number of their followers. Though the number of followers is very important in determining the clout of an influencer, it does not necessarily define how much influence one has. Let’s take a look at some of the factors why by starting with our countdown with our top Twitter crypto influencers for 2021 in random order.

Elon Musk @elonmusk

The co-founder and CEO of Tesla and the richest man in the world with an estimated net worth of $200 billion. He is also the CEO, lead designer, and founder of SpaceX; CEO and founder of Neuralink; and founder of The Boring Company. Currently, he has 48.9 million followers on Twitter. Undeniably, this guy deserves to be on our top spot. Why? In just a single tweet, he can send the prices of cryptocurrencies skyrocket. DOGE (dogecoin) and BTC (bitcoin) were two of his favorites cryptos.

Anthony Pompliano @APompliano

He is the founder and partner of Morgan Creek Digital. It is a hedge fund manager founded in 2018 in North Carolina that specializes in blockchain technology and digital assets. He is known in the crypto industry as a long-time bitcoin bull. He has been actively engaged in a podcast program titled “.The Pomp Podcast. He now has 635,700 followers on Twitter.

Vitalik Buterin @VitalikButerin

He is a Russian-Canadian programmer and co-founder of Ethereum. Together with a group of people, they founded Ethereum in January 2014. He is also a writer and co-founded Bitcoin Magazine in 2011. The 27-year old Ethereum founder is one of the great minds the world has today with an IQ score of 257 even beating Elon Musk with an IQ score of 155. His IQ score is a little less than Ainan Cawley (IQ 263) and a little over than Marilyn Vos Savant (IQ 228). He now has 1.2M followers on Twitter.

Erik Voorhees @ErikVoorhees

He is an American entrepreneur who founded bitcoin startup Coinapult and crypto exchange ShapeShift in 2014. He launched the gambling website SatoshiDICE in April 2012 but later sold it in July 2013. He also founded “bitcoin Twitter advertising platform” FeedZeBirds. Just like Anthony Pompliano, he is also known as a bitcoin hodler. He now has 429,100 Twitter followers.

CryptoCobain @CryptoCobain

A pseudonymous trader and the alter ego of the late Nirvana guitarist and frontman Kurt Cobain. He was named as one of the top ten token traders and analysts in 2017 by Coindesk. He is also a certified bitcoin hodler. His Twitter followers have now reached 260,000.

Winklevoss Twins

They are Mark Zuckerberg’s former college friends way back in Harvard. They own the original concept of Facebook but according to reports, Zuckerberg got greedy and ran away with it. But later on, the brothers settled for $65 million in cash and Facebook shares. In 2014, they founded the crypto exchange Gemini which stands for twins. In a recent report by Forbes, the brothers have an estimated net worth of $1.4 billion. Both are early bitcoin adopters and certified hodlers. According to reports, the duo owns $11 million worth of bitcoin as early as 2013 valued at $120 each at that time. That’s approximately 91,666 BTC and even exceeds that of Microstrategy’s bitcoin holding right now. Tyler has 570,400 followers while his twin brother Cameron has 411,800 followers on his Twitter account.

 Ryan Sean Adams @RyanSAdams

He is the founder of crypto fund Mythos Capital and the creator DeFi newsletter Bankless. He also hosts the Bankless podcast with David Hoffman. He is neither a bitcoiner nor an etherean. He believes that both cryptos will be the two best investments of the decade as according to one of his previous tweets. Currently, he now has 59,900 Twitter followers.

Laura Shin @laurashin

She is a business journalist that writes stories about blockchain, cryptocurrencies, and fintech. She won the Blockchain Award for Most Insightful Journalist in 2016. She is a podcaster but not just another podcaster. She is the host of the blockchain and crypto podcast Unchained and a lead reporter on the Forbes Fintech 50 list. She has 140,700 followers on her Twitter account.

Linda Xie @ljxie

She is the co-founder of Scalar Capital, a hedge fund company that specializes in crypto assets. She founded the company with former Coinbase colleague Jordan Clifford in 2017. She was also a previous product manager at Coinbase. She has 72,400 followers in her Twitter account. 

John McAfee @officialmcafee

The infamous founder of McAfee Associates, a software company, led a very adventurous life. He later resigned from the company in 1994 and from then on, he founded other companies like Tribal Voice, the creator of PowWow chat program, QuorumEx, and Future Tense Central. He is also known to be a political activist. His interests lay in smartphone apps, cryptocurrency, yoga, and herbal antibiotics. Unfortunately, he was arrested in Spain in 2020 on charges of tax evasion fraudulently pumping tokens. He was indicted on both charges. He continues to share his thoughts even behind bars and he has 1M followers to date.

That wraps up our top crypto influencers on Twitter. Choosing which influencer still depends on one’s preference which may largely depend on interest and personal point of view.  Feel free to follow your choice in our list.

But there were recent reports that seven accounts of crypto influencers and analysts on Twitter have been suspended. Fortunately, all accounts are now restored. Good thing right. 

In a statement given to Willy Woo (@woonomic), his account was flagged by mistake by Twitter’s system.

“We have systems that find and remove multiple automated spam accounts in bulk, and yours was flagged as spam by mistake. Please note that it may take an hour or so for your follower and following numbers to return to normal.” 

Twitter just like any other social media platform has been a home for influencers in the crypto space. But it has also become a haven for unscrupulous people engaged in illicit and fraudulent activities. In our next article, we will be featuring the top scam stories on Twitter.
